Team BdREN Visits University of Chittagong to Strengthen Collaboration
On January 6, 2025, Team BdREN visited the University of Chittagong (CU) to foster collaboration and showcase its advanced services designed to enhance education and research. The visit, divided into three key sessions, underscored BdREN’s commitment to empowering academic institutions across Bangladesh.
The first session began with a welcome meeting with the CU leadership. Team BdREN, consisting of CEO Mr. Mohammad Tawrit, Dr. Mohammad Farooq Ali Tarafder FCMA, CAFO, Khandakar Rashedul Arefin, Manager (Data Center), Md. Ariful Islam, Manager (Data and Transmission) and Abu Naser Md. Nafew, Network Engineer engaged in a meet-and-greet with Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Yeahia Akhter, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammed Shamim Uddin Khan, and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin. The discussions highlighted BdREN’s dedication to enhancing CU’s digital and research infrastructure.
The second session, held in a packed auditorium, was the highlight of the visit. Faculty members and officials from CU actively participated in an engaging showcase of BdREN’s services. The program, titled "Showcasing BdREN Services for CU Faculty," was organized by CU’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and held in the Senate Room of Dr. A.R. Mallik Bhaban. The event was graced by CU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Yeahia Akhter as the “Chief Guest”, with Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammed Shamim Uddin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, as “Special Guests” and BdREN CEO Mr. Mohammad Tawrit as “Guest of Honour”. The program was chaired by IQAC Director Professor Dr. Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain. During this session, Vice-Chancellor Professor Yeahia praised BdREN’s significant contributions to the nation’s educational and research infrastructure, particularly during the pandemic. He expressed optimism that CU could benefit substantially from BdREN’s services to enhance research and learning capabilities, thereby strengthening its position in global rankings. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin also commended BdREN’s services, urging CU’s faculty and students to fully utilize the available opportunities to advance education, research, and innovation.
Once the formal inauguration of the program was over, BdREN Team showcased its range of services through impactful presentations from Manager (Data Center) Khandakar Rashedul Arefin who demonstrated on “BdREN Services". After that Network Engineer Abu Naser Md. Nafew came up with his presentation on "Implementation of Value-Added Services through AI." The participants showed high interest in the provided solutions especially on High-Performance Computing (HPC), Cloud Computing, AI-driven email automation, remote access to publisher services, and BdREN QuiGen - the automated Quiz Generation application. A lively open-floor discussion followed that reflected CU’s enthusiasm for collaboration with BdREN to explore innovative applications of these offerings. Prof. Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Additional Director (Quality Assurance), IQAC, coordinated and facilitated the program. He also ensured the program's smooth execution by overseeing all activities with precision and dedication.
The visit concluded with the inauguration of CU’s newly renovated Video Conferencing Room, facilitated by BdREN. The modern facility, equipped with state-of-the-art video conferencing cameras, sound systems and equipment, aims to enhance virtual collaboration and connectivity for CU’s faculty and students. The inauguration was officiated by CU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Yeahia Akhter, who connected live with UGC Member Professor Dr. Md. Saidur Rahman in BdREN VC Room, UGC Bhaban, Dhaka, marking a significant milestone in CU’s digital transformation.
BdREN’s visit to the University of Chittagong reaffirmed its commitment to transforming academic institutions across Bangladesh by offering cutting-edge digital infrastructure and fostering research collaboration. The active participation and enthusiasm from CU faculty and officials reflected the potential for a strong partnership to advance education and research excellence.
