International Workshop on Building a Secure and Smart Campus concludes with High Acclaim
BdREN successfully conducted two back-to-back international workshops focusing on "Network Security" from May 26-30, 2024, at the Long Beach Hotel in Cox’s Bazar.
The first workshop titled “Safeguarding R&E Network” was held from May 26-28, 2024 organized under the Asi@Connect project. The workshop was conducted by two experienced instructors from APNIC. The second workshop titled “Fortifying the Future: Building a Secure and Smart Campus,” was held from May 29-30, 2024. This workshop was sponsored by Huawei Technologies Limited and conducted by an experienced instructor from Huawei.
The workshops were attended by two foreign participants – one from Sri Lanka Research and Education Network and the other from Nepal Research and Education Network. The local participants included network engineers from 32 public universities, Brac University, Varendra University, Asian University for Women, BTRC, and BdREN.
The closing ceremony of the first training session on May 28 featured Prof. Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Member of the UGC, as the Chief Guest, who distributed certificates among the participants.
On May 29, the opening ceremony of the second workshop was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Vice-Chairperson of BdREN Trust, as the “Chief Guest”. Dr. Md Sultan Mahmud, Director of IMCT Division, UGC, was present as a “Special Guest”. Mohammad Tawrit, the CEO of BdREN, delivered the welcome speech.
Other notable speakers included Mr. Liu Shoufei Allen, Vice President and MD of Enterprise Solution, Huawei SA, and Md. Jahirul Islam, Managing Director of Smart Technologies – both spoke on behalf of the sponsors of the event. A “Gala Dinner” was arranged on 29th evening which was preceded by vibrant cultural program and enticing raffle draw.
On 30th at the end of the two days’ training program Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Honorable Chairperson, BdREN Trust distributed certificates among the participants.
Throughout the workshops, the participants were engaged in extensive training, engrossing discussions, and effective hands-on activities designed to bolster the participants’ knowledge on network security and ensure the robustness of educational and research institutions' campus network. Furthermore, the exchange of ideas and best practices fostered a vibrant learning environment, empowering attendees to apply their learnings effectively in their respective academic environments.As the workshops concluded successfully, participants departed with newfound knowledge and with the resolve to fortify their networks which will facilitate a safer and secured environment in the educational landscape of Bangladesh.
