BdREN Holds GenAI Training Workshop at UGC
Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN), in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, successfully organized a two-day training workshop on “Generative AI (GenAI) for Productivity and Innovation” at UGC Bhaban. The inaugural session was graced by Professor Dr. Md. Saidur Rahman, Hon’ble Member, UGC, as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam, Secretary, UGC, attended as the Special Guest. The session was chaired by Md. Omar Faruque, Director (ICT), UGC, and the welcome address was delivered by Muhammad Nazmul Islam, Additional Director (ICT), UGC.
Day 1 of the workshop focused on building foundational knowledge of Generative AI. Participants were introduced to core concepts, prompt engineering techniques, and practical applications in daily office tasks such as drafting official communications, content creation, and improving administrative efficiency through AI tools.
Day 2 highlighted advanced and hands-on applications of AI in professional settings. Sessions covered AI-assisted writing tools like Grammarly, spreadsheet (XLSX) data analysis, presentation development, translation, and real-life use cases tailored to different departments. Participants also engaged in practical exercises to better understand how AI can streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
The sessions were conducted by BdREN experts, ensuring an interactive and application-oriented learning experience. The workshop aimed to strengthen digital competencies within UGC and encourage the effective and responsible adoption of AI technologies in administrative and academic operations. BdREN reaffirmed its commitment to driving innovation and capacity building across Bangladesh’s higher education sector.
