Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) has successfully completed the campus network extension at the New Arts Building of the University of Chittagong (CU), marking a significant step forward in enhancing digital connectivity for higher education in Bangladesh.

The newly connected five-storied building consists of 30 blocks, accommodating 14 academic departments under one roof. Through this initiative, more than 10,000 students and over 250 faculty members now benefit from seamless, high-speed internet access designed to support modern teaching, learning, and research activities.

To ensure reliable and uninterrupted connectivity throughout the premises, BdREN deployed 144 centrally managed Wireless Access Points (WAPs), enabling consistent coverage across classrooms, laboratories, corridors, and faculty areas. The wired network infrastructure has also been strengthened with the installation of 27 access switches and 560 faceplates, ensuring stable and efficient connectivity for both academic and administrative use.

A high-capacity 10 Gigabit (10G) backbone has been implemented from core to access level, allowing the network to handle heavy data traffic and peak usage without compromising performance. Additionally, a centralized Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system has been introduced, providing approximately 2.5 hours of backup power to maintain continuous network operations during power outages.

This project highlights BdREN’s ongoing commitment to building a robust, scalable, and future-ready digital ecosystem for educational institutions across Bangladesh, empowering students, educators, and researchers with the connectivity they need to excel in a digital-first world.
