
BdREN Strengthens Collaboration with Bangladesh Maritime University to Enhance Digital Infrastructure
On February 9, 2025, a high-level meeting between Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) and Bangladesh Maritime University (BSMRMU) was held at BSMRMU's Chattogram campus. The meeting aimed to enhance BSMRMU's digital infrastructure and strengthen cooperation in advancing research and education technology.
From BSMRMU, Cdre M Mahfuzur Rahman, (L), BSP, psc, BN, Controller of Examinations, and Group Captain S M Monzurul Alam, BPP, afwc, psc, Director of ICT Centre, along with other senior officials and technical staff, participated in the discussion. BdREN was represented by Chief Technology Officer, Ekhlas Uddin Ahmed, and Local NMSS Engineer, Mr. Shakil.
The meeting focused on several key initiatives to enhance BSMRMU's digital ecosystem. BdREN extended its support to strengthen WiFi coverage across academic and administrative buildings, faculty residences, and student halls. Discussions also covered assisting BSMRMU in establishing its own data center to ensure better control over digital resources and improve data security.
Additionally, BdREN emphasized the potential benefits of the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) project, which can provide critical support to BSMRMU's digital transformation. Plans were also discussed to build a robust backbone transmission network for high-speed internet and other digital services.
This collaboration marks another milestone in BdREN's mission to digitally empower Bangladesh's education and research sector, ensuring that institutions like BSMRMU have access to world-class digital infrastructure and connectivity.
