BdREN Strengthens Collaboration with BSMMU
On December 17, 2024, a team from the Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN), led by Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Tawrit, held a meeting with the ICT Cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). The BSMMU team was headed by Prof. Dr. AKM Akhtaruzzaman, Director of ICT Cell and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesia, Analgesia, and Intensive Care Medicine. Officials from both organizations were present during the discussion, held at BSMMU's premises.
The meeting focused on fostering collaboration between BSMMU, the premier post-graduate medical institution in Bangladesh, and BdREN, the leading facilitator of digitalization for the country's education and research sectors. Acknowledging the unique challenges and opportunities at BSMMU, BdREN CEO Mohammad Tawrit reaffirmed BdREN's commitment to offering tailored, state-of-the-art digital solutions. Highlighting BdREN's vision as a "Researchers' Heaven," he emphasized the organization's role in supporting BSMMU's research and academic advancement using the latest available research facilitating technologies.
Prof. Dr. Akhtaruzzaman expressed his strong enthusiasm for modernizing BSMMU's infrastructure and positioning the university as a hub for advanced medical research. Discussions covered Internet bandwidth usage including the associated 'packages' and expanded to BdREN's range of services, including eduroam, Learning Management Systems (LMS), University Management Systems (UMS), federated access to Journals and eBooks, certificate verification, distant learning platforms, Licensed Zoom, and training/consultancy.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing optimism and a shared vision to advance research capabilities and digital infrastructure. This collaboration between BSMMU, BdREN, and UGC holds great promise for achieving a robust digital transformation of Bangladesh's medical education and research ecosystem.
