BdREN and MIST Forge New Collaboration for Enhanced Digital Services and Research Support with Special Focus on LMS
A productive meeting took place between Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) and the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) on November 7, 2024, to explore new avenues for cooperation in digital and research services. Held in the MIST R&D Wing Conference Room in Dhaka, the session brought together key representatives from both organizations, including BdREN's CTO Ekhlas Uddin Ahmed and MIST's Director of R&D Brig. Gen. Mohammad Sajjad Hossain. The meeting underscored BdREN's commitment to providing Bangladeshi universities and research institutions with advanced digital solutions.
During the session, BdREN presented a comprehensive overview of its service offerings tailored for academic and research excellence. The services that were explained in the meeting included eduroam, high-speed internet, Zoom expansion, research bandwidth, high-performance computing (HPC), cloud services, disaster recovery, and federated access to e-resources. Special emphasis was placed on the Learning Management System (LMS), which has sparked keen interest from MIST as they look to streamline digital learning and resource management on campus. The discussion also delved into flexible options for Internet and related services, with MIST expressing their desire to receive HPC support, to be used for research purpose, at Free of charge from BdREN.
Looking ahead, MIST requested BdREN to prepare detailed quotations for various services, with a live demonstration of the LMS to be arranged after the return of the MIST Commandant on November 10. Both parties agreed this initial meeting is the start of a continued partnership, with more discussions planned to refine service offerings. BdREN reaffirmed its mission to support Bangladeshi educational institutions by creating a "Researchers' Heaven" through accessible, high-quality digital infrastructure, aligning with its role as a non-profit, government-owned trust serving the nation's academic and research community.
