Access to Emerald journals for NU and 120 IDG winner colleges for enhancing academic and research excellence

Introduction

In the rapidly evolving world of academic research, access to a wide range of scholarly content is crucial for fostering innovation, collaboration, and learning. The Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN), as a pivotal entity in the academic and research landscape of Bangladesh, is committed to enhancing the accessibility of global research resources for our academic institutions. We are thrilled to announce that through our affiliation with the UGC Digital Library, BdREN has secured a subscription to Emerald Insight. This platform offers an extensive repository of research materials across various disciplines having more than 197 journals, significantly benefiting the academic community of National University and it’s affiliated 120 colleges. 

Objective

The objective of this workshop is to introduce and familiarize the faculty and students of National University (NU) and its associated colleges with the federated access to Emerald Insight. This initiative aims to promote an understanding of the platform’s resources, enhance research capabilities, and foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.

- Date: 18 March 2024 - 21 March 2024 (4 Days, 4 Batch)
- Venue: National University, Gazipur, Bangladesh
- Duration: Half-day (3 hours)
- Participants: Faculty members, researchers, and students from National University
                            Selected representatives from NU associated 120 colleges under CEDP (Total 300)

Workshop Outcome

- Knowledge on Access Modality: Participants will gain knowledge on how they can access the premium resources of any publisher service from anywhere of the world.

- Awareness: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the value and breadth of resources available through Emerald Insight.

- Skill Development: Faculty and students will become more research focused. They will learn effective strategies for utilizing the platform to enhance their research and academic pursuits.

- Collaboration: The workshop will encourage collaboration among researchers and institutions, mainly the 120 colleges, leveraging federated access to foster a more integrated academic community.

- Resource Optimization: Participants will be equipped with the knowledge so that they can share this knowledge to their faculty members after returning to their college premise.

- Venue arrangement within the university premises.
- Facilitating the participation of faculty members and students from NU and its associated colleges.
