UGC Chairman Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed Visits BdREN Office, Provides Strategic Guidance
Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Chairman, UGC, and Chairperson, BdREN Trust, paid a visit to the BdREN Office today [04 April 2026] in the afternoon. Prof. Dr. Md. Saidur Rahman, Member, UGC and vice-Chairperson, BdREN Trust, Prof. Dr. Tanzimuddin Khan, Member, UGC and Member, BdREN Trust, and Dr. Fakhrul Islam, Secretary, UGC, accompanied the Honorable Chairperson during the visit. The high officials of BdREN warmly greeted the Chairperson.
After a brief introduction of all the attendees, the CEO of BdREN gave a presentation on the formation of BdREN Trust and its authority to formulate policies and drive the organization toward achieving its goals. He also highlighted the milestones achieved, BdREN’s service coverage, its financial sustainability, and opportunities and challenges. CEO, BdREN, solicited the guidance and advice of the Honorable Chairperson to overcome the challenges and make the organization stride ahead with aplomb.
The Honorable Chairperson opened the floor and collected comments from the other higher BdREN officials present in the meeting. Then, the Honorable Chairperson advised the CEO, BdREN, to run the organization specifically as a Business Unit to provide full support to the research and educational community. He threw some challenging targets for the BdREN officials to achieve. He requested the CEO, BdREN, to chalk out and submit a plan to meet those targets.
Prof. Tanzimuddin Khan stressed the need to promote BdREN services to the community, whereas Prof. Dr. Md. Saidur Rahman asked BdREN officials to work as a cohesive unit for the betterment of BdREN.
The meeting ended with the Honorable Chairperson thanking all officials for their active participation.
