What is Zoom?

Zoom is BdREN's centrally supported, easy-to-use video conferencing platform that provides high definition, interactive collaboration tools, and video conferencing system to use for communication and collaboration. With Zoom you can instantly start a virtual meeting with colleagues and students that works with any MacOS, Windows, & Linux platforms, and has free apps for Apple and Android devices.

Although it is possible to sign up directly for a free Basic licence at ZOOM, this has limitations on meeting length and participant numbers. BdREN has a corporate zoom license, which is available only for its member institution.

But to combat COVID-19 disaster BdREN allows the facility of Zoom Application free of cost to all universities.

Process to be followed to get access to BdREN Zoom Account?

We appreciate your intrigue in conducting online classes in the midst of such a global disaster and thus helping the student community to continue their academic activities with minimum interruption. We would humbly request you to follow the following guidelines set by UGC.

  1. Please send the email to helpdesk@bdren.net.bd by keeping your honorable Vice-Chancellor in CC.
  2. Please send the email from your academic email address, if possible. Please ignore it if not possible.
  3. It would be appreciated if you share the link of your profile on the university's website. Please ignore it if not possible, but share your university website.

Please help us in authenticating you at the quickest possible time to expedite the account creation process by following the above-mentioned guideline. The account will be provided and confirmed within 24 hours.

  5. How many people can connect to my meetings?

    --The Zoom accounts allow for up to 300 participants. If you need to hold meetings with more than 300 participants or need to host a webinar there are large meeting rooms and webinar accounts are available for check out. Contact with BdREN Helpdesk.

  6. How many meetings can I run at a time with my BdREN Zoom account?

    --Zoom only allows you to run one meeting at a time on your BdREN Zoom account.

  7. Is there a way to perform network, audio, and video diagnostics during a meeting?

  8. How long is a Zoom meeting link good for?

    --A Zoom meeting link is good for 30 days and a recurring meeting link set to no fix end date is good for 365 days.

  9. Can I connect with people outside of BdREN using Zoom?

    --Yes, you can invite anyone to join your Zoom meetings as a guest by providing them with a meeting URL or meeting ID number. Users are not required to have a Zoom account to join a meeting; only the meeting host is required to have a Zoom account.

  10. How do I tell what kind of Zoom account I have?

    --BdREN provides licensed Zoom Pro accounts to its members..

  11. Can I grant my Admin scheduling privileges to my Zoom account?

  12. Is Zoom secure / are the meetings encrypted?

    --Yes, Zoom meetings are encrypted with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
