BdREN successfully arranged a seminar on Enhancing Access to e-Books/e-Journals through TIGERfed

On April 29, 2024, BdREN hosted a full-day Seminar focused on "Enhancing Access to e-Books/e-Journals through TIGERfed." Librarians from both public and private universities across the country participated in this event. The esteemed Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Chairman of UGC and Chairperson of BdREN, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Haseena Khan, a respected Member of UGC, honored the seminar as a "Special Guest," while Prof. Dr. Abdullah Shams Bin Tariq from the University of Rajshahi delivered the keynote speech, shedding light on the seminar's objectives and expected outcomes.

The primary aim of the seminar was to familiarize attendees with the advancements of TIGERfed and its role in facilitating access to e-Books and e-Journals for academics, both on-campus and off-campus. Notable publishers such as Taylor & Francis, Oxford University Press, Emerald Publishing, Springer Nature, and IEEE showcased their e-Book collections, discussing various subscription methods to ensure sustainability for TigerFed and benefitting academics and students alike.

During the event, Nushrat Sharita, Deputy Director of IMCT, UGC, and Md. Fahmid Uddin Khondoker, DD (ICT) of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS), shared expert insights on TIGERfed and the e-book system. The honorable CEO, BdREN, Mohammad Tawrit, orchestrated the entire program, ensuring its smooth execution. Mr. Abu Naser Md Nafew, Network Engineer (NOC), provided valuable insights from BdREN's own developed Tigerfed, Bangladesh's first and only Identity Federation for education and research entities. During the event Ms. Khadizatul Kubra, the mistress of the event, captivated the audience with her charming presentation skills, adding to the success of the seminar.
