Online Awareness Program on “Identity Access Federation”
An online awareness workshop on the " Identity Access Federation" was hosted by BdREN in collaboration with the Australian Access Federation (AAF) under the Asi@Connect project of “Increasing Federated Identity, Roaming and E-infrastructure (iFIRE)” on 19 October 2020. Mohammad Tawrit, the honorable CEO of BdREN Presided over the meeting. Delegates (Faculties and Network/System Engineers) from different universities and UGC were present at the workshop.
Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) with the assistance of the Australian Access Federation (AAF) anticipated highlighting the benefits of the National Identity Federation in the Higher Education Community in Bangladesh. The program was mainly focused on the advantages and its probable applications of the Identity Federation in the context of Bangladesh.
Mr. Terry Smith (AAF), the Principal Investigator (PI) of the iFIRE project was the keynote speaker of this workshop. He presented his experiences over the Australian Access Federation. Mr. T. Smith also discussed the services, benefits, and policies of the Access Federation. Mrs. Dalia Abraham also from AAF demonstrated accessing federated and eduGAIN services. Dr. Md Sadek Ferdous (Asst. Professor) from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) shared the challenges and prospects of implementing the Identity Access Federation in Bangladesh.
